Welcome to SmartNewsWire.Com
Smart News Wire is a stock research website dedicated to bringing you a collection of company news releases relating to stocks on the NASDAQ, NYSE, AMEX as well as other exchanges such as the OTCBB. These PR's will be categorized in an archive for easy retrieval sorted A-Z. You can also use the Google Search function below to scan the entire website. This website is simply for informational use and is intended to be used just for that purpose. If you plan on buying a stock be sure to do your due diligence first.

We have broken down the website into multiple categories listed below. Use it as your stock market guide for information and resources on different companies. We are working constantly on keeping our database fresh with company profiles in different sectors.

NASDAQ
  • Nasdaq is currently one of the hottest exchanges featuring high tech stocks such as Microsoft and Intel. Nasdaq is a great alternative to the NYSE.
AMEX (American Stock Exchange)
  • The American Stock Exchange is located in New York City. It is smaller then the NYSE exchange consisting of 660 seats and 1,000 listed stocks. Companies represented on the AMEX are usually smaller and more speculative then the ones listed on NYSE. The regional stock exchanges are located in Boston, Memphis, Chicago, Pacific and Philadelphia. Today, many companies have listings on both AMEX and NYSE and a regional exchange.
New York Stock Exchange (NYSE)
  • NYSE is one of the oldest and most popular organized stock exchange in the U.S. It consists of 1,400 seats that allow access to the trading floor where members have an option to pay from $500,000 - $1,000,000 for each seats. The New York Stock Exchange lists about 2,400 stocks and the companies must meet requirements related to size and profitability which would virtually guarantee that the companies will be a part of the largest and most profitable companies in the country.
S&P 500
  • A measure called Standard & Poor's 500: Uses the price changes of 500 representative stocks on the NYSE, OTC markets & AMEX. The measurement is given an index number because the sum of 500 stock prices would be too large.
OTCBB
  • Over-the-Counter Bulletin board (an electronic quotation system for unlisted stocks) overseen by the National Association of Securities Dealers
  • Is not a part of the NASDAQ Stock Market.
  • Under the OTCBB eligibility rule, if a company wishes to have their securities quoted, they must file current financial reports with the SEC or other banking regulators.
  • If a company on the OTCBB fails to file financials with the SEC, it becomes listed on another system: Pink Sheets
PINKSHEETS
  • Similar to the OTCBB, Pink Sheet stocks are over the counter stocks that are not traded on the NASDAQ. The Pink Sheets contain bid and ask prices and the market makers for these OTC stocks.
